Description
Position Description
The Senior Director of Impact & Program is the senior leader accountable for national program strategy, impact, budget, and performance across Juma's program and site operations. This role sets the strategic direction, resourcing, and accountability structure for how Juma delivers impact at scale – owning the program and site operations budgets, setting the KPIs the organization is held to, and representing program and impact strategy to the Board, funders, and corporate partners. The Senior Director bridges organizational strategy and executive-level stakeholder management, building the systems and partnerships that allow Juma to scale.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Impact & Strategy
- Set national YouthConnect strategy and multi-year roadmap in alignment with the CEO and Board.
- Define program fidelity standards and quality benchmarks across all markets, ensuring a consistent youth experience and outcomes nationally.
- Establish org-wide program and site performance KPIs and accountability measures; hold the program and site leadership accountable to agreed-upon targets.
- Partner with the Learning & Evaluation team to identify systemic performance gaps and direct organization-wide improvement strategies.
Budget & Financial Ownership
- Own the full program and site operations budgets end-to-end: annual planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and reallocation decisions, in partnership with Finance.
- Lead multi-year budget planning, rolling forecasts, and financial scenario modeling to ensure long-term sustainability of program and site investments.
- Identify cost drivers, funding gaps, and revenue opportunities across program and site operations, and work with Finance and Development to close gaps and strengthen Juma's financial model.
- Provide Finance and the Board with timely, synthesized performance data to inform re-forecasts, board reporting, and grant stewardship.
People Leadership
- Directly manage, coach, and develop the Director of Impact and the Regional Director of Enterprise Operations.
- Guide leadership structure, talent strategy, and succession planning across program and enterprise operations, including approval of key leadership hires.
- Build a cohesive, accountable senior leadership culture across program and enterprise functions, grounded in Juma's core values and commitment to racial equity.
Partnerships, Business Development & Expansion
- Own senior and national-level partnerships with employers, government entities, and funders, leveraging these relationships to create employment pathways and career exposure opportunities for youth at scale.
- Set national wraparound services partnership strategy (housing, mental health, substance use treatment, transportation) and negotiate national-level agreements.
- Co-develop the programmatic narrative and impact evidence used in new market pitches, grant applications, corporate partnerships, and funder communications.
- Partner with the Regional Director of Enterprise Operations to align program capacity, site readiness, and youth outcomes data with Juma's growth and expansion strategy, ensuring the youth experience is unified across the social enterprise and program.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner in identifying new markets and scaling existing sites.
Executive Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO and contributing to organization-wide decision-making.
- Collaborate with HQ teams (People Operations, Finance, Learning & Evaluation, Development) to ensure program and site operations are well-resourced and supported.
- Represent program and impact strategy in board meetings and executive-level funder conversations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in youth development, workforce development, social enterprise, or related nonprofit programming.
- At least 5 years directly managing managers in a multi-site environment; experience managing director-level staff preferred.
- Proven track record leading and scaling outcomes-driven youth development, workforce development, or employment programs across multiple sites or markets.
- Demonstrated experience owning multi-year budgets and financial planning in partnership with a Finance function.
Track record engaging boards, funders, or corporate partners at a senior/strategic level. - Strong operational discipline: skill in defining and owning organization-wide KPIs, dashboards, and accountability systems.
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop a high-performing, diverse senior leadership bench.
- We believe great candidates come from a range of backgrounds and experiences. If you're excited about this role but don't check every box, we still encourage you to apply — we'd rather learn more about you than miss out on the right fit.
