Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) Japan is seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager to own and execute high-visibility strategic initiatives focused on customer experience and technology. This role will drive innovations, programs, and features unique to Japan while implementing global programs for AMXL's Heavy & Bulky logistics network. The successful candidate will manage large-scale, complex initiatives, balance speed with quality, and deliver technology-based solutions that enhance customer experience and drive cost benefits across the end-to-end network. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with global teams across the United States, Europe, and India while addressing local market needs in Japan.Key job responsibilities
• Develop execution strategies, set priorities, and communicate effectively across business partners and stakeholders to translate program initiatives into logical sequences mapped against business impact
• Coordinate with teams across multiple regions and geographies to understand, learn, implement, and execute programs adapted to Japan market requirements
• Design and conduct pilot projects to gather insights, identify scalable solutions, and implement creative program and technology interventions for the end-to-end network
• Partner with cross-functional teams including operations, delivery stations, technology, transportation planning, supply chain, and customer service to design and implement technical and process solutions
• Analyze operational data to identify process gaps, drive sustained improvement projects, and write clearly articulated recommendations to senior leadership with supporting data and logical rationale
A day in the life
Each day brings new opportunities to delight customers through varied responsibilities. You will facilitate meetings with multiple stakeholders to drive program alignment and coordinate documentation ranging from strategic plans to test results and reviews. You will challenge existing processes and drive data-based decision making with cross-functional teams. Planning and organizing seamless execution will be central to your role. You will continuously identify problems to solve and partner with teams across Japan and globally to deliver for customers. Business travel within and outside Japan may be required to build skills, expand your network, and exchange best practices across regions.
About the team
The AMXL Japan team is a dedicated organization that owns Amazon's end-to-end Heavy & Bulky logistics network, partnering with delivery providers to offer shipping, service, and support for consumers and companies in a safe, reliable, seamless, and sustainable way. Our delivery partners specialize in Heavy & Bulky deliveries, providing services such as Room of Choice Delivery, Installation/Assembly, and Recycling/Haul-Away. Our team comprises diverse individuals across operations, supply chain, technology, finance, planning, customer experience, business intelligence, and program management who work collaboratively to continuously improve and scale operations while maintaining high standards and customer obsession.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience in Business English skills, both verbal and written
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree, or MBA
- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
- Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership, or experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
- Experience establishing successful partnerships with internal and external teams to execute tactical initiatives or equivalent
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese
