Description
The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Colby College seeks applicants for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in Japanese during the 2027-2028 academic year. The successful applicant will teach four Japanese language classes, two in the fall semester and two in the spring semester, at a range of levels. Expected qualifications include a graduate degree in Japanese language, literature, or a related field; native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English; prior language teaching experience; and a demonstrated commitment to fostering access and belonging within the campus community through teaching and engagement. A master’s degree is required; a PhD is preferred. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,700 to $69,700, commensurate with rank, experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
