RESPONSIBILITIES
Leading and overseeing all zoological operations at Ocean World, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and team leadership. This role manages animal care programs, behavioral training, veterinary coordination, collaborate with Life Support System Department for water quality standards, emergency preparedness, and guest experience related to zoological activities.
Provide strategic direction, staff development, and supports the company’s mission of education, sustainability, conservation, and responsible marine mammal management and other zoological species.
Ensure the highest standards of daily husbandry, behavioral enrichment, nutrition, and welfare for all marine mammals and other species.
Implementation and compliance of international standards and certifications on animal welfare.
Approve animal care protocols, enrichment plans, and animal behavior documentation.
Review and monitor animal health indicators, welfare assessments, and behavioral baselines.
Implement all marine mammal training programs using recognized reinforcement methodologies.
Oversee staff certifications, training sessions, behavioral goals, and exhibit guidelines.
Support research based training initiatives and ensure alignment with animal welfare objectives.
Coordinate operations with the veterinary and consultants; including medical procedures, preventative care, quarantine processes, and medical records.
Ensure proper emergency response protocols for animal health crises

Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Sciences, Marine Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, or related field.
Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in marine mammal care and training.
Previous leadership experience in a zoological or marine park setting.
Experience working with regulatory agencies and accreditation bodies.
Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
Expertise in animal behavior, husbandry techniques, and enrichment programs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to manage complex operations and animal emergencies.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Requires availability on weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations or any other circumstances as needed.
Work may involve outdoor environments, water exposure, and proximity to large animals.
Physically fit to support operational needs when necessary (Swim, run, jump, able to lift or move 50 pounds)
Schedule and responsibilities of the position may vary, flexibility is required.
